Reflections
I learned that even a small design change can greatly impact the user experience. The most important takeaway for me is to always focus on the user's real needs when coming up with design ideas and solutions.
/1.1
Push the comfort zone
Initially, it was overwhelming working for a fintech considering I had zero background in the industry and knew practically nothing of the user base.
/1.2
It's okay to ask for help
Ask for help when stuck. By talking openly and frequently I was able to avoid major hiccups and stay on track.
/1.3
Document as much of the work process as possible
During the internship, I wasn’t documenting my process so much, which made working on the final presentation, and this case study more difficult.
/1.4
Diligence is all it takes
I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.
/1.5
Function and Form can go hand-in-hand
It was tempting to overhaul the entire experience from the start, but in reality, the best design might be the simplest. Users just needed a clear CTA.
